Flying is the safest form of travel, yet it’s also weirdly common in disaster and thriller fiction. Why is that? Same reason we accept that someone can just fall into a vat of something and turn into a superhero: it’s interesting. Being trapped in a crashed plane underwater is about as interesting as it gets. One could even call it too interesting. Thankfully, however, it’s not a real story. It’s a non-memoir by T.J. Newman, and it’s called Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421.
